HOAs: The Double Edged Sword - Curb•It

We’ve all seen them. The perfectly manicured gardens, houses with fresh paint, clean roofs, and tidy yards with a fancy sign welcoming you to the community. Yes, I’m referring to the world of Home Owners Associations – HOAs.

They are beautiful communities, to be sure. But, like with many things in the world, there’s a catch. If you want the look, you have to put in the time. Yards don’t mow themselves and no one is going to pick up after you anymore. Ah, the joys of home ownership.

I know, I can hear it: you’ve got a job, the inside of the house, and the 2.5 kids the average American has plus the dog. So, how are you supposed do take care of the house and then get to the recycling/donation/junk center? It’s tough. But you have options, and here are a few:

  1. Devote your Saturdays and/or Sundays to house care management and dump runs so you don’t receive HOA notices.
  2. Do part of the work during the week after work and the rest on the Saturday so you can have at least some of the day to spend with your family and friends.
  3. Enlist the help of your family and make it a family affair and have a picnic together after dropping off donations and junk.
  4. Have Curb-It (iPhone, Android) come and pick up all your recyclables, yard debris, donations, and junk and keep the time you would have spent hauling that stuff around town. You can use that time instead to go to the zoo with your family, go hiking or biking, lounge in the sun, read a book, and of course you can still have that picnic.

Let Curb-It make living in an HOA the pleasure it’s supposed to be, and not a hassle. While we can’t landscape your yard, we’ll happily take away the trimmings.

Download the app now (iPhone, Android) and make plans for the weekend.
